Cognition is a measure of innate skills in thinking, computing, and comprehending. Cognition is most often measured on an IQ test. IQ stands for intelligence quotient. Intelligence means the ability to understand, reason, and problem solve. Quotient means that the overall IQ score is a composite of many different areas of intelligence. If you aren’t sure whether or not your child has struggles with cognition, a School Psychologist or Licensed Psychologist can administer an IQ test.
